Quote I Think I Like My Best Friend

De Cosas de Yucatan ...

News from the Peninsula:

Close ...

A unique event took place yesterday in the city of Merida: The decommissioning of Industry Council of Information Technology Yucatan (the CITI) and operating successfully since 7 years ago in the Convention Center Yucatán Siglo XXI.
Cultur The Board requested building facilities, that will serve the offices still exist Maya Civilization Museum, a project that promotes the current state administration. 26 companies and 300 workers will be displaced to be the first cluster of companies engaged in technology in the country.
Although the companies have announced their intention continue working on a joint project so far there is no news that the State Government has offered any alternative premises for the successful project could be established.
In short, it solves a problem, but is thrown overboard to support a productive project that sought to position the Yucatan in the growing field of technology development. The great paradigm that represents all aspects of Mayan culture, seems to be the only commitment they have for the development of the state who now take such decisions.

Political Correctness. ..

The small passenger sparked outrage around the statements of Dr. Luis Ramirez Carillo (apparently the only school in the town qualified to testify about policy issues as - of course - the Yucatan Journal ) on the appearance of the Governor of the State, is pretty ridiculous. While it is true that the term "beautiful woman aged CASHIER and People" is striking, I do not discriminatory but in any case is the product of "academic pedantry" who often have certain intellectuals. What most seem to bother Ramirez is the fact that a person of humble origin and without academic credentials he is dealing with today has major public office in the state.
No doubt the governor has used his image to generate political sympathies, but - at this time of false political correctness - a jealous outburst like Ramirez is the product of a clear inability to handle the politically correct language of media communication today.
But it has also been exaggerated reaction of the PRI followers who have felt as an insult to a lady the adjectives used to refer to the governor. In any case - as someone had noted on Twitter Yesterday - The newspaper Por Esto spent years using these and worse terms to refer to those who oppose the PRI. It is very easy to look at the speck in your neighbor's eye, but if we ask for respect to the figures or physical characteristics of any public figure, the request must be for all media regardless of their editorial or political affiliation. Otherwise we would fall on the grounds of what is called hypocrisy.

Group ...

In days past, formed in a Facebook very interesting group called: Shakira, Yucatán you admire but do not be part of the lie.
The group has grown and filled with people of diverse ideologies that seek to require the state government and the municipality of Merida, to put a stop to wasteful shows that ultimately benefit not seen any long- Yucatan term. The group has jumped from Social Networking to the streets under the name " No More Waste: Citizens Option " and today held their first demonstration in the streets of the city.
The case is remarkable for two reasons: First of all
seems to be a 100% citizen movement unrelated to any political party (although some politicians - perhaps opportunistic - have joined the Facebook group page) for what appears to be the origin of what many have asked for years in the State: Organizations Civil Society and especially respect for diversity and unite in common causes.
the other hand, it harnesses the enormous power of social networks to generate social mobilization. We'll see if he can transcend or issue ends on July 17, after Shakira has pocketed 15 million dollars for two hour concert.

the Agreement for the coverage of Violence ...

Seven Readers !!...

715 / 2 this morning media have signed an agreement which has called Agreement for coverage of the Viol gum.

Under the auspices of the project called Mexico Initiative - driven mainly by Televisa and TV Azteca - these media have decided to unify information regarding the issue of war against drug trafficking and the violence that exists in the country.

The deal comes against a background with two edges. On one side is increasing criticism of the strategy the federal government has continued around the fight against crime - the same American President Barack Obama said in recent days the frustration of his Mexican counterpart for the failure of that strategy - and in the middle of a trade war between Telmex and televisions in the background is the operation a third television channel.

Clearly we face a strategic alliance between the federal government in decline and a television that aims to enhance its monopolistic practices, with a goal that can be read between the lines to change the perception of public opinion on the issue of security with a view to 2012.

The unification of criteria such information by 715 / 2, seems to be aimed at reducing the informational diversity of the requirements of much of Mexican society in recent years. Thus, it could be a deal that goes against the right to information to which all Mexicans. This becomes more alarming when we read that among the signatories are channels ONCE and 22, public media in terms of adhering to a proposal that information comes from the private television not the audience it should always be served first and only instancia.También is called into question the credibility of journalists who adhere to this agreement and whose opinion might be going through the lens of censorship before being emitted into the air.

George Orwell said "If freedom means anything, it will, above all, the right to tell people what you do not want or go." And with this agreement, it seems that 715 / 2 are given up this freedom. And perhaps more important was being ignored - again - the right of audiences to receive important information about a subject that the government itself and the same means that agreement signed today, put on the table for discussion: the issue of the war on drugs.
