Seven Readers !!...
not remember if I ever told you about one of my favorite characters in the history of cinema and literature is Rob Gordon. Gordon is the main character in the novel High Fidelity (Nick Hornby's great ) and the extraordinary film of the same title directed by Stephen Frears . Gordon loves me because I share with him two things: the obsession with music and everything to do lists.
One of the most memorable batch of film and the novel is this, when Gordon makes a list of the 5 worst breaks he has had in his life:
The point is that this character - who lives surrounded by discs and songs - is this trend: RIEF giving the hierarchy of all things that have happened in life. I do the same. Probably this idea has to do with the fact that both Gordon and I, we have spent years reading charts like Billboard or that of the 100 best films in cinema history. So what we do is to adapt our own world view to a series of hierarchies that shape our own personal memories. And we tend to conflict with who does the same, with those who dare to go into categories prioritizing issues for one are so important such as movies and music. For as many define the degree, the books they have read or travel or activities they have done many strange beings who inhabit this planet will eventually define the songs we've heard or seen the movies. Yesterday
watched two television programs: one was the 100 Artists grandest VH1 and the other was one that - in a truly unexpected happened on local TV - over 5 0 highlights of the Grammys . The first presented to the artists of the number 100 to 81. A list that included people of contrasts as Steely Dan, Mariah Carey, Journey, Elvis Costello or Alicia Keys. The second had moments with Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond , Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Joss Stone and Melissa Ethridge, Bruce Springsteen to end - surprisingly - with the best "time Grammy " of history was the presentation of with Green Day American Idiot. And
generator and foolish my own lists, if I have many conflicts with these programs. Soil to fight me in secret (to whom deception? I do it out loud) to the TV every time you see a name that I think should not be in the listings or would, in my point of view (or my own list) , occupy another place in the claim to rank artists according to criteria which are obviously completely and totally subjective.
Yet the issue seems to go by creating lists is threefold: it is natural, fun and completely absurd. It is natural because it is something we all do not yet realize. Think for example how many times have not thought that was the best trip of your life which is his favorite food is, in doing so invariably will list them, thus - perhaps inadvertently - that of generating hierarchies category and is part of our life. And that is something really funny, because each of the listed times or things usually bring memories and / or situations we could be happy, unless of course, that so freaks as Rob Gordon and generate lists of the worst moments of his life which - on reflection - also can bring a good dose of black humor that is often really necessary.
But perhaps not absolute nonsense going prioritizing all of our times and tastes? If it is, because you really should go through life making every moment the best, the top 1 might be happier and nostalgia is a strange feeling. But ironically there are absurdities that are necessary and I have the conviction that in my case - and perhaps some of you, dear seven readers - to generate personal listings is a necessity ridiculous perhaps, but need to after all. Because each list represents a road trip, an opinion on a subject, a nostalgia that has been dusted off, in other words, the lists are so lifelike that one has uploaded it and the baggage of dreams that at some point we carry with us in this avenue of life.
Number 12:
Oh Mom, she kissed me Pablito Ruiz ...
And speaking of lists, return to the Top 20 worst songs in English. Pablito Ruiz
can not be classified either as artist or as a singer. In fact I cataloged a hard time somehow. I think that is one of those guys who invented television to show the world that 99% of its viewers has masochistic tendencies, because only that way I can explain to someone decides to buy or have in your music collection whatever is unattractive character have occurred in its lamentable career.
And one of those things is Oh Mom, she kissed me. ..
A ditty boring, a poor letter and a desperate cry of a pre-teen scared that she has kissed a girl (who as a teen is afraid of that?) up to this pitiful song that comes to this list, proving that such Pablito should focus on something else before has a singer. Fortunately we did not both masochism and forget about this character for many years, although in a recent time sought to gain publicity at the expense of the sexuality of Ricky Martin, to go back to oblivion.
So here it is, the number 12 on the list of worst songs in English, Pablito Ruiz: Oh Mom, she kissed me.
The worst line:
Hell, ALL the song ... then I leave ...
So things said Monday ....
.... well ...
